I explored the poem “Aedh wishes for the cloths of Heaven” by W.B Yeats through a video essay. In this video essay, I narrate the poem and its impact on me in fragments, accompanied by a soulful backing track, other background audio and a visualiser. I was inspired by artists like Derek Jarman, Janet Cardiff and Yayoi Kusama. The visualiser shifts in colour and glow intensity depending on the audio. The colours were also chosen to be evocative of the different moods of day mentioned in the poem. Like navy blue for midnight and turquoise for dawn. The backing track of Portrait by James McAllister adds a melancholy warmth to my voice whilst the background audio helps bring my vision of the poem to life and also adds texture to the experience.
