Through the use of collage, photography, found objects, poetry, and the moving image, Beatrice investigates the complexities of modern-day relationships between family and friends. Although this theme has stemmed from her personal experiences, Beatrice employs symbolism, suggestive imagery, and poetry, in order to create work and develop new narratives which audience members can connect to. By using symbolism, Beatrice has been able to navigate sensitive topics from a third-person’s perspective, allowing her to separate actions from emotions. Throughout her time exploring this topic, she have delved into various themes including identity, the sense of belonging or ‘the home’, and memory.

Collage has been the main focus of Beatrice’s practice over the past year, where she have employed hand-cut, original imagery from vintage magazines, to construct thought-provoking compositions. With the use of film, she has been able to focus upon poignant moments within these collages, and when paired with her spoken word, Beatrice ultimately produced her exhibited artwork, ‘The Performance’.

This work explores the complexities of modern-day relationships between family and friends through the use of collage, photography, found objects, sound, and the moving image.
