Freya Laville is a multi-disciplinary illustrator and craftsperson, working primarily in textile and ceramics.

Her work considers the functionality of everyday objects while using playful colours and shapes to subvert the mundanity of these objects. The idea of a piece of work having a ‘function’ is essential to her practice. Tactility is a vital part of Freya’s work; used as a tool of engagement through the rugs and tufted pieces she creates.

Freya’s work consists of ceramics, textiles and tufting in order to convey her experiences of ‘A Jewish Dinner’. The illustrative designs within the crafted pieces are inspired by the food she remembers from the religious celebrations and dinners throughout her life.
