My work is mainly photographic, using analogue photography as a way to explore the active process of creating an image – from the photographer’s gaze to the physical process of developing an image that is organic and authentic to the artist. The work for my final project has explored how the body can be a transitional place between light and dark, stillness and movement, life and death, and the particular relation this has to photography as well as the role of female subjects and photographers. My final print is inspired by the sacrifice of Polyxena, using the neck as a focal point to explore the ways in which female bodies can be restrained and freed.
