These images are video stills from my video installation exploring insecurities surrounding the squishiness of the female belly. I’ve presented this through using dough to create a gloopy looking surface to project onto, and through mixing dough on my own belly. I have been looking at this through my own experiences, and that of others with biologically female bodies in society. I want to display the more “gross” ways in which the female body can be presented, as a result of society picking it apart and never being satisfied with it. In this video I have used dough to create an off-putting feeling towards the belly, and show it in an explicitly gross manner, trying to evoke this feeling of being uncomfortable around the belly, which I amplified in the install by projecting it onto a wall painted with dough to create a lumpy texture.
