‘What is Real and What is Unreal’ is an ancient Chinese story that explores the relationship between dreams and reality. I discovered it while exploring the subject of dreams. This project visually explores the nature of dreams and the sensations involved in the dream state. The written word alone cannot describe this accurately, so my book project uses visual language to communicate this.
I was very inspired by joan Miró’s paintings. The black blocks and lines that appear in his paintings give a sense of unease. I try to convey a similar feeling in my visualizations.
‘I’m always in a state of dreaming while awake. Of course! But dreams while I’m sleep, no.’ – Joan Miró
