The inspiration for my final collection came from looking at my Welsh heritage and the desire to pay homage to that. The starting point for the research was portraits of Welsh women knitting in traditional Welsh dress from the 19th century, this informed the voluminous silhouette of the collection. The colour pallet of this collection has drawn inspiration from Welsh tapestry which holds a lot of heritage of Wales within its designs. I have reinterpreted these into my fair isle knit designs within the collection.

Alongside this research, I have also investigated Wales industrial mining roots by visiting a series of old mining sights and photographing them. The main being the World heritage site in the Blaenavon Valley called Big Pit which homed one of the largest mines in Wales. From these photographs, I created graphic digital prints which contrast the more feminine silhouette of traditional Welsh dress.
