Nina (Xinwei) Wei is a multidisciplinary designer and an interdisciplinary illustrator. Born into a family of psychologists made Nina fascinated by exploring ‘human memory’, ’emotion’ and ‘relationships’. She continually seeks untold perspectives to engage complex topics through empathic atmospheres, using illustration as a bridge or translator between various cultures and disciplines to facilitate conversations.
Nina believes the complexity of today’s global challenges is often difficult to solve using a singular approach, so multi and interdisciplinary methods are explored. She brings interviews, authoring texts, and programming into her practice moving beyond the convention of traditional illustrative image-making. Nina’s recent practice has focused on exploring healthcare and well-being topics in narrative contexts, using illustration as a tool for first-hand, multi-method research rather than just a form of presentation.
