Through painting and photography, Simran explores the relationship with the self and how she has experienced issues around identity as a second generation British Indian woman. Her practice revolves around a confrontational narrative as well as selfhood by creating a powerful yet vulnerable space, allowing higher versions of the self to speak and challenge the regular self. Her portraits and figures all represent memories and feelings of developing a self caring and self dependent relationship.

The artist portrays versions of her emotions; curiosity, ignorance, attentiveness, laziness and the need to challenge herself by creating an imaginative world that she often escapes to and writes about experiences with reality and the inner self. All in the hopes that we can all provide ourselves different perceptions in the world and prioritise our issues to become better versions of ourselves.
