Sofia’s current practice explores the relationship and between text and material, and the significance they both have in self-narration. Influenced by the Confessional movement, her work is situated around challenging spectatorship with legibility in personal poetry, using signatory materials that create a tactile and interactive environment such as thread and the use of domestic objects. The most predominant theme Sofia’s work is rooted around is identity; branching into smaller subtopics such as emotion/ trauma, gender, perspective, reality and time.
