‘Look Up’.
Specific to St John’s Square in Clerkenwell, my project aims to encourage a sense of presence and awareness in our familiar spaces. Through the installation of two built interventions in St John’s square, I am encouraging locals who may be set in daily routines to look up, be present and take in the surroundings they may have formerly become used to. By controlling the viewpoint of the user when engaging with these interventions, my project sets out to remind passers by of the beauty and detail of their local area, focusing their attention to specific places (within and beyond St John’s Square), evoking a child-like curiosity and delight again. It’s an experience we all need regularly!
These images show a test I put into the space to experiment with the idea of controlled viewpoints and apertures.
